Common Use Cases
- Scanned documents — your scanner outputs individual JPGs per page; combine into one PDF
- Photo portfolios — a sequence of images presented as a professional document
- Receipts and invoices — phone photos of paper receipts converted for expense reports
- ID document bundles — passport, driver's license, and proof of address in one file
Page Size and Image Fit
Three common approaches to fitting an image onto a page:
- Fit to page — scales the image to fill the page while maintaining aspect ratio; may leave white space
- Fill page — scales and crops to fill the page entirely; may clip image edges
- Original size — places the image at its natural dimensions; may overflow the page
For scanned documents, "fit to page" on A4 or Letter size is almost always the right choice.
Image Order
Page order in the PDF follows the order you add images. Most tools show a drag-and-drop list — verify the sequence before converting, especially for multi-page scanned documents.
Margins
Zero margins maximize content area — useful for borderless photos or full-bleed scans. Add margins when the content needs breathing room or when the document will be printed with binding.
